First Light

First Light
8 x 10 inches
Oil on wood panel.

I was experimenting a little on this one. I wanted to do something a little softer, more atmospheric in nature. I love the time as first light creeps in to light up the day.

Tintagel

Tintagel
8 x 10 inches
Oil on wood panel.

Tintagel Castle is the legendary birthplace of King Arthur, located in Cornwall, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on the west coast of England. The ruins of the castle are still visible on the upper left. The large building on the right in the background is the Camelot Castle Hotel. It in itself is an interesting place. I stayed there several years ago, in a room with large windows affording incredible views of the Atlantic. Tintagel is a magical, mystical place. If you ever get the chance, go there.

I recently happened on a blog by a very talented woman in Paris. She goes by, Miss Glitzy. She has graciously allowed me to use her photos as inspiration for paintings. This is my second based on one of her photos.

She recently featured me on her blog. You can see that here.

Cable Car

Cable Car

Oil on wood panel.

For awhile I have been kicking around the idea of painting iconic American images. This is the first of those paintings.

San Francisco is a wonderful place to visit. So much to see and do. If you have never been there. Go.

Near my house is a small lake, ironically named, The Pond. I spend a lot of time on walks around it. This is a late afternoon look at the shoreline.

This is a small stream, not far from my house, near Standley Lake in Westminster, Colorado. It was early morning and the sunlight was creeping up over the trees behind me.

This is an early foggy morning in a small town. I spotted a photo by artist, Carol Gillott, and she graciously allowed me to use it for inspiration for this painting. Check out Carol's blog, Paris Breakfast.
