Art Show Shadows

Art Show Shadows

This is my lovely wife, Anne, viewing some paintings at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, in early July. The festival draws 350,000 visitors into the streets to see the art. This is the shadowy side of the booth housing the paintings of Phyllis Stapler, an artist who lives in the Four Corners area. Be sure to click on her name and take a look at some of her work.

Las Trampas, a small town on the scenic High Road to Taos, is approximately halfway between Santa Fe and Taos. The town was founded in 1751 and is known for the lovely San José de Gracia Church, built between 1760 and 1776. The church is a great example of adobe architecture. We stopped in mid afternoon in intense sunshine. The clear cobalt blue sky was amazing.

Mountain View

This is a view from our favorite mountain to climb, Chief Mountain, 11,709 feet. The painting was based on a photo I took, just as we broke above the tree line on the way to the top. There are a number of spectacular views in Colorado, and the view from Chief Mountain ranks near the top for me.

Update

Just an update to let you know that I haven't quit painting, or fallen off the earth. I have been working on several larger pieces that have not hit the finished stage yet, but should soon. Also I had a road trip to Utah and New Mexico and my sister came to visit, so have been quite busy. Hope to post some new work in a few days.
